Full-Time Middle School Teacher

We are seeking a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic to join our dynamic Vanguard family.

Middle School teacher who seeks to share the love of learning with students. Demonstrates hard work, energy, and be a kid advocate. The candidate will need excellent organizational and relationship-building skills and is receptive to guiding students with learning differences. This teacher enjoys working with students who experience learning differences in an independent day school environment and demonstrates integrity and sound judgment in everything they do.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of high expectations and patience to allow every student to achieve positive results in a supportive learning environment

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate, well-rounded lessons that align with School standards and support the social, emotional, intellectual needs of each child

  • Provide instruction in the areas of math, reading, social studies, science suitable to the developmental age and subject matter of students in this age group

  • Coordinate timely and ongoing communication and feedback to parents

  • Create a learning environment that promotes character, respect, and empathy

  • Demonstrate a commitment to training and professional development to remain current with educational standards, emerging technology, classroom resources, and pedagogy

  • Actively participate in faculty meetings, in-service programs, and training workshops

  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Proficiency in subject matter

  • Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) and possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents

  • Demonstrated knowledge in teaching principles, theories, methods, behavior management techniques, and conflict resolution strategies

  • Understanding of academic, social, and behavioral characteristics of students in this age group

  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, and conduct lessons and instruction

  • Ability to provide a motivating and engaging learning environment

  • Ability to be flexible, effectively manage stress, and adapt

  • A team player with a positive, results-oriented attitude.

  • Ability to create and contribute to an engaging and inclusive learning environment and workplace
